Travel Diaries: Dubai

Dubai's always been a place I've wanted to visit. I have heard so much about it, and many different opinions. What I can say is that Dubai is completely different from any other place I've been before. It's extremely clean (which a neat freak like me loves!), very new, and so hot! You can find everything there from my much missed Canadian Tim Hortons, to the most amazing Chinese food. The temperature was around 40C during the day, and down to 36C or so in the evening. I love hot weather, so I was in heaven. Take me somewhere with hot weather and a beach nearby, and you won't be able to get me away from the sand and sea.

We stayed at the Fairmont on the Palm which was an absolutely stunning hotel. The service was impeccable and the food and drinks were delicious. Highly recommended!

The first full day that we were there, we went to Aqua Adventure which is this massive water park at the Atlantis hotel. We spent half the day there and it was so much fun, from vertical water slides, to tube slides that you can do yourself or with a partner, it's definitely worth a visit.

We also had time to visit the Dubai mall which has an aquariam, ice rink and hundreds of shops! Outside the mall were the Dubai fountains (similar to the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas). Both the mall and fountains are must-sees.

I absolutely love a good musk, and Arabian perfumes are known to be amazing. So we stopped by the Ajmal store and stocked up on musks for myself and as gifts for family and friends.

The final evening we were there, my husband arranged a surprise dinner with a private dining cabana on the beach at the Jumeriah Beach Hotel! I was in a dream state walking on the beach towards this cabana lit in red looking out at the sea and at the well-known 7-star Burj Al Arab.

I would love to go back one day, but there's many more places I want to visit before I do. Until next time!
