Dressing For Your Body Shape: Inverted Triangle
It's been on my mind for some time now to do a series of posts showcasing the best styles for your body type. We all want to look our best, but it can be confusing at times when you're not sure if a certain style or silhouette suits you or not. Hopefully these posts will help. Though these posts will mainly showcase South Asian fashion for your body type, I've included information below the images for Western Fashion that will suit you as well!
Today I'll be discussing the body shape of inverted triangle.
Definition: An inverted triangle body shape has a proportionally larger upper body, compared to their lower body. You have broad shoulders, a big bust and a wide back. Your hips are slim and your bottom tends to be a bit more flat. You tend to gain weight in your belly and upper body. Lastly, you have gorgeous shapely legs!
Tips to dressing: You want to balance your upper body to your lower body to create an hour glass effect. The best clothes for you are those that add a curve to your hips and bottom while at the same time defining your waist. You can play with skirt lengths (because of your gorgeous legs), but not too short or you'll add to a top-heavy look.

Voluminous high-waisted suit:
For saris, I recommend having a halter top style blouse made, or something simple with a v-neck or a low scoop neckline.
Blouse types that will suit you: Narrow V-Neck, shirts nipped or banded just above the waist, wrap style tops, tailored jackets, and dark coloured tops.
Bottoms: Boot cut or wide leg trousers, and full or A-line skirts.
Swimsuits: Halter top, bottoms with ruffles, side ties or embellishments, and one piece suits with cut outs.
Hope this helps! Let me know your thoughts and if you have any styling questions in the comment box below!

Colourful Saris & Summer Ready Tunics
We recently introduced new designer Closet Rani Pink on to our online boutique. After seeing her curated and colourful collection, we knew we had to have her items on the site.
What we love about her designs is that not only are they perfect for those wanting to look a bit different, but there is an array of fabrics and colours used. From silks mixed with lace and georgette, to hints of metallic for a 'I'm edgy, but still love a bit of tradition in my South Asian wear', this collection has something for everyone!
The favourite definitely has to be this black pallu sari with hints of metallic in the colourful pleats. It would look amazing worn at an evening event.
We also brought in their colourful tunics. Now, we've been seeing tunics (also known as kurtas/kurtis) as a huge summer fashion trend. They are all over the high-street shops including Zara and TopShop. Additionally, we've seen them being worn as dresses, which look so cute and very comfortable! They would also look great worn to garden parties, tea parties, and even a simple mehendi night with tights.
This fuchsia pink tunic is made of cotton (perfect for summer!) and looks great worn with black tights.

South Asian Inspiration: Chanel Cruise Dubai 2014
Did you happen to catch the Chanel Cruise Dubai 2014 show yet? With a huge amount of South Asian inspiration, it was a gorgeous show with salwar kameez inspired clothing and tikka inspired jewellery. I especially love the prints and the very Chanel known weaves used in the collection.
My favourite is the last image above. Oh, and check out the decor and seating! Love it!
