Bindi Bliss

My new obsession is the red bindi. I've seen quite a few Bolly-celebs wearing this with the traditional sari or suit and it looks so elegant and sophisticated! Below are a few recent pictures of celebs sporting the bindi. What do you think? Would you wear the bindi? I think I'll be wearing the red bindi at the next party I attend!!

India Shopping Review 2011

Back from an exciting but extremely exhausting trip to India, I have lots to share with you. Below I've listed my favorite shops from the trip (Delhi and Punjab) as well as the types of fashion you'll find at each.

1. Hauz Khas Village, Delhi: This plaza like village is set up by popular designers and offers very trendy Indian ethnic wear. My favorite store at this location is Ogaan, more cocktail than bridal, this store has top of the line and very trendy clothing that's a bit more on the expensive side. I fell in love with the store as soon as I walked in, all of the clothing was amazing and very well made! If you don't mind spending a bit more money on your clothing, and want something that is one of a kind, I would definitely recommend checking out this store. A downside is that all of the clothing is pre-stitched, so if it doesn't fit-too bad! In addition, the customer service is horrible. You pick the clothing yourself, walk it to the change room and try it on yourself (for those who don't usually shop in India, this type of service is very rare!). 5 stars in terms of clothing, 0 stars in terms of customer service.

2. Ushnak Mal Mool Chand, South Extension, Delhi: I absolutely love this store! I found two very important outfits here, as well as many different saris that I love. The clothing is well priced and trendy, some of the clothing is pre-stitched but quite a bit of it isn't and can be stitched to your preferred style. The salesmen are very helpful and can easily tell what will look good on you and what won't. They will even tell you what jewelery to wear! If you choose to get it stitched, it takes about 4-5 days for the pre-stitching, and then 15-30 days for the final outfit to be made. There are three Ushnak Mal's in this plaza, the largest one has men's wear, women's wear, and accessories. 5 stars for clothing, 5 stars for customer service.

3. Maya's, Chaura Bazaar Ludhiana: You won't necessarily find the most trendy clothing at this shop, but if you're looking for clothing to give to relatives at weddings, or just a simple suit/saree that you can wear on on a regular day, then I would recommend this shop. The clothing is very well made, and they have a huge selection from which you'll definitely find something you like at a really good price. The only downfall is that the customer service is extremely pushy - which I'm not a fan of! 3 stars for clothing, 3 stars for customer service.

4. Sham Fashion Mall, Sector 34A, Chandigarh: This is a new 5 floor fashion store that has been built in Chandigarh. It has trendy, fashionable clothing that is very well priced! Each floor has it's own theme - if you're looking to get your shopping done quick, then this is your perfect one stop shop. Along with women's clothing, there's jewellery, men's wear, and even the cutest children's wear! It is all ethnic wear, and the service is great! I ended up spending a few hours in this store and purchasing quite a few items. Stitching to fit is done in store within 2 days. 4 stars for clothing, 5 stars for customer service.
