Indian Summer

Looking more like African princesses rather than Indian ranis, the models strutted down the runway for designer Malini Ramani at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2010. With hints of Africa and Mexico seen throughout the collection, Ramani translated her vision into a strong collection with the use of vivid and strong prints. Right on trend for this coming season, the shoes seen on the runway were bright tie-up wedges and sandals, and sexy gold stilettos. Big chunky earrings, colourful stacked bracelets, and vibrant headbands were accessorized with the outfits as well.

Sponsored by Grey Goose, the show was based on the transition of a young girl's life as she travels abroad. Beginning in Mexico, Ramani takes us on a journey through Paris and Africa, finally arriving in beautiful metropolitan Mumbai.

'Being an avid traveller, I weaved the story of a girl who is soul-searching. For each city she travels to, she wears the specialty of that city and drinks a martini that suits the climate. The line is very exclusive and chic, designed for modern a woman who has a keen sense of style and knows how to have a good time,' Malini told IANS after the post-show conference.

Below are a few pictures of the collection see on the runway. Enjoy!
