Sari Trends

Wondering which sari to get next time you go on a shopping trip? Well, here's a little help! On your next shopping trip make sure to pick up a multi-coloured sari, and a sleeved anarkali suit. These 2 trends have been seen on numerous runways and red carpets! To add a bit of sexiness, choose net for the blouse. Make 3/4 sleeves with net as the fabric!

Countdown Sexy!

Who doesn't want to bring in the New Year looking as sexy as can be? Start off your year right by slipping into the perfect dress for the countdown to 2010. Below are a few dresses to get you inspired. Slip into the right dress and welcome 2010 with sexy strut and a big smile!

Pretty and feminine. This strapless dress is sexy, yet ladylike, with its ruffles and full skirt. Great for a New Years gala!

Sheer and sexy. This sheer dress shows off just enough to keep them wondering. Plunging and short, this dress hides the flaws (like a tummy after too much dinner!) and shows off the positives!

Elegant and stunning. Be a stunner with this one shoulder number. The peek-a-boo shoulder adds a bit of sexiness to the dress; and the draped ruffles create an elegant look! Great for a New Years party, and can be worn numerous times after!

Dazzling and memorable. What more can be said about a metallic or sequined dress for New Years eve? It's the perfect dress to countdown to 2010 in! Pair it with fierce platform heels.

Drape it, Baby!!

I'm a huge fan of the draped dress. Not only is it beautiful, but if it's made right it embodies an elegance and class. Whether it be a cute cocktail dress, or a sexy evening gown, the following dresses are irresistible!

Made for a Maharaj

The Victoria and Albert Museum in New York recently held an exhibition- "Maharaja: The Splendour of India's Royal Courts," which focused on the princes of India during the British rule. Since the Indian princes were deprived of their ruling, they were more focused on the attractive things in life. This exhibition showcased jewelery and clothing that was worn by the Royals during this time. Below are a few pictures of the beautiful designs!

Top Trends of the Season

There seem to be so many trends going on this season that it's hard to define exactly which trends are in style and which aren't. So here is a quick list of the trends to watch for when going on your annual (or semi-annual, or monthly, or weekly, or daily!) shopping trip!

1. Metallic Dress
2. Animal Print
3. Ruffles
4. Distressed Jeans
5. Lace

Neha Dhupia in a Metallic dress - Keep the sleeves and length on metallic dresses short!

Deepika in Animal Print - any kind of animal print is in! My favorite right now is zebra print!

Neetu Chandra in Ruffles - This dress is so-so on Neetu; I prefer a dress with a sequence of ruffles going from the top to the bottom. My personal favorite is a satin or chiffon halter blouse with ruffles from top to bottom! Hot!

Kareena in Distressed Jeans - I love this look on Kareena! Honestly, wasn't a big fan of this jean when I first saw it, but it's grown on me! Pair this with a simple black, white or navy t-shirt and avoid any form of bling! Add boots or heels to make it look extra chic, or wear it with flats for a casual look.

First Wife's Dress

Unknown surprise guests, saris, turbans, and diamonds galore, filled the first state dinner. But, what stood out most was Michelle Obama's dress. Made in India and designed by Indian designer, Naeen Khan, Mrs. Obama wore a cream and gold, long strapless glitter dress to the state dinner. Accessorized with diamond earrings and bangles, she looked absolutely stunning in this elegant piece.

Naeen Khan is a designer based out of India, who has also designed pieces for celebrities such as Beyonce and Padma Lakshmi.

Sheer, Draped, and Sexy

Two of the biggest trends of the season are sheer fabrics and draped pieces. So what pulls off both of these looks better than a sari? Mixing different fabrications together by adding a velvet or metallic blouse with a sheer sari gives the wearer a statement look - just remember to keep it fun and flirty!

The metallic blouse adds a little bit of sexiness to this sheer pink sari

Loving Deepika's velvet and net blouse!

Rani opted for a classic sheer sari instead of a dress this time!
